The course is aimed at children aged nine to 15 of grade three to eight standard and above, who play an orchestral or band instrument. The more advanced pupils play in the symphony orchestra; the less advanced in the junior string orchestra or the wind band. A brass ensemble, a symphonic wind band and a string orchestra also meet for several sessions during the week, and involve all players of the relevant instruments. The grand orchestra, which includes all course participants, also meets several times during the week. The final concerts take place in the Performing Arts Centre at Stewart’s Melville College.
