Lecturers at South Thames College were staging a one-day strike today in protest at job losses. NATFHE members are staging the walk-out to coincide with the college’s inspection.

Union leaders are angry at plans to make 20 lecturers, 20 support staff and eight managers redundant to save Pounds 1.6m. They argue the savings could be made by voluntary redundancy and early retirement.
