Re your correspondent’s opinion of (Ms) Anne Thrope, it does have a place in the new TESS. I have never been aware of any anti-Scottish sentiment, and some of her remarks, when shared with other members of staff in the Scottish school where I work, have entertained - they may be ribald and anti-management, but does that not tend to appeal to the Scottish sense of humour? TESS is a serious magazine, but a little light relief is welcome.
Stick to the current balance. I enjoy her items as much as Morris Simpson, and they do not detract from my interest in more weighty matters.
