Office for Standards in Education inspectors have lifted special measures at a Bradford school after three years, praising the improvements made by staff and governors.

Bowling Community College - formerly Fairfax Community School - was threatened with closure after its inspection in 1994. After a campaign by students, governors and parents it was given a new name and a new headteacher, Glynis Gower.

Inspectors revisited the school at the end of term and agreed to take the school off special measures.
