Spending sums do not add up

AN ERROR in an Analysis article by Peter Downes last week may have confused readers with a calculator to hand. The sum allocated to the Standard Spending Assessment increases in 20034 from this year’s pound;22,503 million to pound;23,928m, an increase of 6.33 per cent, a 0.43 per cent increase on the 5.9 per cent promised. In cash terms this is pound;97m and will help to ease in the new system for the SSA funding route currently being generated by the Education Funding Strategy Group.
