Spotlight on ... International Women’s Day

Celebrate the social, political and economic contributions of women around the world on 8 March. The day has been marked every year since 1908.

Get pupils thinking about the past, present and future roles of women, and talking about women they know and women they admire. Ask them to compose an imaginary letter or tweet to a woman of their choice. And use your lesson to discuss why International Women’s Day still matters.

Take a look at a PowerPoint from Teachers Sticky Labels suggesting 21 ways for schools to get involved.
