The National Reading Campaign is encouraging schools and other organisations to combine book-related events with raising money and donating books for Book Aid International, which supplies books to under-resourced schools and libraries worldwide (see www.bookaid.org). See www.literacytrust.org.uk for a daily update on participants and ideas.

The campaign has also launched its search for Reading Champions for a second year. Nominations are invited for males aged 10 and over who love reading and can inspire and motivate others: at home or as reading volunteers and mentors or motivators in schools, study support centres or youth clubs.
