ITALY: Investigators found 30,000 names on the computer of an education authority worker who is at the centre of a scandal involving the abuse of at least 128 children in Rome. The files, which were protected by 32 passwords, stored brief descriptions with names of potential victims. Comments included “likes martial arts and is an avid chewer of chlorophyll gum”, “is from a good family, like basketball and has a PC”. Among five arrests so far is that of a school caretaker, who provided the primary-school premises for after-hours meetings between children and abusers.
