TEACHERS must work extra hours for free if school sports standards are to improve, sports minister Kate Hoey has said.
Ms Hoey said state-school teachers should follow the example of their independent peers, who she claimed coached sport “for the love of it”. “That as gone from state schools,” she said.
Alan Manasseh, of the Professional Association of Teachers, said: “The time teachers can give has been greatly diminished by the demands placed on them by the Government.”
