Back to the Scottish conference of the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers in Carnoustie and a debate on - what else? - early retirement and pensions.
Ian McCubbin, Perth and Kinross, admitted that at 51 and with a young family he had no thoughts of retirement, unlike most of the other delegates, and wanted to work beyond 60.
“Anyway, what would I do with all that time?” McCubbin asked.
Delegates chorused spontaneously: “Supply work.”
