What was the best arts company to visit your school in the past year? Stephen Baron from The Piano Music Theatre
How long did he spend with you? Most of the morning. He performed Who Stole the Moon? for the little ones and Hello, Mr Mozart for the older ones and he told the story of Mozart’s life.
Did you do any preparation beforehand? The older ones, P6 and P7, were expected to know a little bit about Mozart. We were without specialist music teaching at the time.
Did you do any follow-up work? Not a lot, for the same reason, but the performance enhanced children’s knowledge and understanding of Mozart.
What did the visit cost? pound;170.
Who paid? The school fund.
What was so good about him? The way he played, the insights he gave into Mozart and the way he held the children’s attention.
How relevant was it to the curriculum? It related directly to the upper segment of 5-14 music.
