Black and ethnic-minority pupils from Cardiff will today be encouraged to explore the final frontier by an African-American astronaut who made it to the stars despite racist abuse. Former US marine, Major General Charles Bolden, who piloted the 1990 space shuttle mission to launch the Hubble space telescope, will visit Cathays high, Whitchurch high and Fitzalan high schools to raise interest in science and space.
