They should submit reports by October on one of the following: building an astronomical instrument, designing an instrument for a space mission, a stable planetary system around another star, or observations through a telescope. First prize is a week’s stay at the ESO headquarters in Germany. Details from Dr A M Cohen, Dane Valley High School, Jackson Road, Congleton, Cheshire CW12 1NT. Tel. 01260 273000.
