The early-years shambles is a poignant example of government mishandling of education. All staff are now incapacitated by the burden of assessment tasks that divert their attention away from children, and make them see them as statistics.
At age four, children are emotionally and developmentally unready for formal learning, and motor co-ordination issues that remain ignored will devastate their future studies.
