State meddling?

Education Secretary David Blunkett says he won’t tolerate bad parents. Tough talk, but isn’t sending mothers and fathers to parenting classes - requiring them to sit in class with their offspring - an intolerale extension of state meddling? Adults who need this supervision shouldn’t be parents at all, and many of them wouldn’t be if the Government didn’t fund their procreation through welfare.
