A headteacher who banned a Catholic pupil from wearing a crucifix is to take the matter up with school governors later this month.
Samantha Devine, a 13-year-old pupil at Robert Napier school in Kent, was told to remove the crucifix because it contravened school rules on dangling jewellery.
But Fiona Miller, headteacher, said a lapel crucifix would be fine and added: “It would be wrong to portray this as a religious issue.”
