The TES Scotland’s involvement in supporting educational developments and initiatives continues to expand.

This year’s TES ScotlandSaltire Society pound;500 award for a publication aimed at the Scottish school curriculum goes to Hodder and Stoughton for Scotland and the Second World War by Simon Wood.

A Scottish Schools Prom, supported by The TES Scotland, will celebrate young music-making at the City Halls, Glasgow, on June 25. The organisers at Music for Youth, which mounts the annual Schools Prom in London’s Albert Hall, are seeking entries from schools across Scotland.

A national conference on teaching and learning on May 15-16 in Glasgow will be launched by Professor David Perkins of Harvard University. A main aim of the conference, “Making the Connection”, which is being organised by the Scottish Consultative Council on the Curriculum, the Educational Institute of Scotland and The TES Scotland, is to focus on the growing understanding of how we learn, how good teachers teach and how organisations promote effectiveness in classrooms.

Participation is by invitation but individuals interested should contact Kath Sharp at the Scottish CCC, Gardyne Road, Dundee DD5 1NY.
