Parents attending the first parents’ afternoon and evening sessions in a new North Lanarkshire primary certainly know their place - literally.

In a letter inviting them to events this week, they are advised: “Parents will be seated centrally while waiting for the class teacher to become available. Once the teacher is free, the first person in line waiting to talk to that teacher will leave the centrally seated area and go to meet the teacher.

“When the interview is over, if you have another child to discuss, you will join the end of the seated group. As each parent leaves the front of the queue, the seated group move forward.”
