The winners get prizes ranging from notebook computers to televisions and DVD players, from the project sponsor, Toshiba. Japan’s Bullet Train first took to the rails in 1964, and is the only train in the Railway Museum that wasn’t built in the UK. It clocked up an amazing 6,367,194 miles during its working days and travelled the 320 miles from Tokyo to Osaka in just three hours. It’s easy to see why it influenced Meadows Community School’s Chris Witham’s website, “The Power of Steam”.
