Visitors can find out about the early days of Inverness, which was laid out as a new town by King David I of Scotland. During one 100-year period, the castle was sacked no fewer than 15 times by various invaders, including the Lord of the Isles.
The new gallery also features original and replica items that illustrate the area's medieval trades.
