Scottish writer and broadcaster Sally Magnusson today launches the Scottish Storytelling Centre’s Stories for All Appeal, with the aim of raising pound;600,000 over two years. Half of this will be used to support local storytelling across Scotland and half to create and equip a national training and resource centre based at The Netherbow in Edinburgh.

The Storymakers project, an ongoing scheme designed to encourage children as storytellers, has received pound;100,000 from the Scottish Arts Council’s Children and Young People Scheme. The project aims to build a national network of children’s storytelling groups and give training to adults working with child storytellers.

Across the country, 18 authorities are participating in the Storymakers project and have pledged pound;65,000 of support. Contact Joanna Bremner, tel 0131 557 5724.
