The vast majority of people think that clever pupils should be taught in separate classes so they can be stretched further, a survey has shown. The Centre for Policy Studies, a right-wing think tank, found that more than three-quarters of people wanted to see more streaming in comprehensive schools. A similar proportion of those surveyed also agreed that weaker children could also benefit from being taught in separate classes.
