Stress guru, relax thyself

TES columnist and teacher training guru Sara Bubb publishes a new book next week, Managing teacher workload: work-life balance and well being, co-authored with Peter Earley.

The book does exactly what it says on the tin: offering plenty of nifty tips on reducing stress and making sure teaching work doesn’t take over your life.

But here is Sara’s account of the day she sent her manuscript to the printers: “On the morning of the book’s deadline I had an NQT course in Lewisham. I got up first thing and I was running the pages off and trying to get things together for Lewisham. I managed to get through the course and I got in the car. I was driving out of the car park when, bugger me, I scraped my car right down the wall. It was because of the stress of doing all these things at once. I felt like a hamster on a wheel.”

A case of do as we say, not as we do, perhaps?
