THE BBC 2 programme Talking Cure looked at the difficulties faced by Trelai school in South Wales and the advice provided by Tavistock Clinic, the London-based psychotherapy centre.

While the head and teachers were clearly dedicated and excellent role models, they were shown to be experiencing work-related illness, stress caused by overbearing workload and isolated incidents of threats of violence.

TBF, the teacher support network, feels that Trelai is not an isolated example.

As not all schools will be able to afford the Tavistock Clinic, many will find a dedicated counselling line established by TBF to provide advice and support.

Teacherline is free, independent, and totally confidential. It is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year on 08000 562 561.
