STRESSED-out staff at a Midlands college went holistic after a week-long visit from the Further Education Funding Council and the Training Standards Council, writes Harvey McGavin.

Following the inspection last December, Brooksby agricultural college staff unearthed hidden talents to wind down with five days of indulgence.

Staff gave free massage, reflexology, yoga, feng shui, Reiki healing, and tarot card reading sessions to colleagues outside working hours. The alternative therapies, organisedby the college’s active staff association, proved so popular they will be back in the summer.

“We wanted to make people feel more nurtured and to nourish our souls,” said marketing coordinator Jane Lloyd, who was responsible for the Reiki. “It was the first time we had done anything like this and we were amazed by the response. Everything was booked up within a day .”

The inspection report, published last month, showed a healthy seven grade 2s, a grade 3 and a grade 1 for management.
