The typical family with dependent children has one parent working full-time and the other working part-time, a study from London university’s institute of education has found. But Professor Shirley Dex, who carried out the review of 19 research studies for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, said most couples had to juggle work and family life and there was a large amount of dissatisfaction and a desire to cut working hours.
