Strike ballot over pension changes

Thousands of independent school teachers could strike over changes to their pensions, in the first ever national strike. More than 25,000 ATL and NUT union members in private schools in England are being balloted. Union officials said they were "very angry" over proposed alterations to the teachers' pension scheme, which could see their contributions rise by 50 per cent.
