The National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers is threatening to ballot for strike action in a Kent grant-maintained school which plans to make seven teachers and two support staff redundant.
Allan Craig, the union’s national executive member for Kent, said:: “We have proposed alternative measures to produce savings, but our suggestions have fallen on deaf ears.”
Rodney Freakes, headteacher of Montgomery School, near Canterbury, said the school has forecast a significant financial deficit.
