TEACHERS across Brighton are to vote on strike action over planned redundancies at a “fresh start” school. The National Union of Teachers is holding an indicative ballot to test the water among members. Brighton and Hove Council will close Marina High School, which has been under special measures for the past two years, before re-opening it as a new school under the Government’s “fresh start” procedure in September. Only three of the 46 teaching staff have been guaranteed posts at the new-look school. The rest must compete with external applicants. Those who fail will be made redundant.
