Northamptonshire teachers went on strike yesterday in protest at plans to set up a new academy in the area. Staff at Weston Favell School took industrial action all day in a bid to retain an LEA maintained community school. Chris Keates, NASUWT general secretary, said: “Strike action is always a last resort but the staff feel that they have no choice as their representations about the proposals have had little impact. These proposals are demoralising staff, destabilising educational provision and are opposed by the community.”
