Strike threat over funding

Concerns about school funding in Powys, where teachers are threatening strike action, were raised at the Welsh Assembly in a debate last week.

Mick Bates (Lib Dem) told fellow assembly members that small schools and music bands for pupils were under threat and that teacher morale was suffering. Jane Davidson, education and lifelong learning minister, said local government funding had increased by 5 per cent or more every year for the past five years.
