Pupils at Tain Royal Academy contemplating university will have another set of arrows in their quiver - if unarmed combat skills can be so described.

Headteacher Donnie Macleod decided to enlist the help of Alan Bell, an expert in unarmed combat with 22 years in the SAS, so his pupils will have the right sort of skills when they go off to the big city - speaking calmly when threatened, for instance.

“We thought the message might get through better if we brought in an outside expert,” Macleod said. Wonder what his staff think?
