I AM a 19-year-old student teacher and am finding the Government’s proposals for “top-up” fees hard to swallow.
I have many financial commitments, yet my local education authority still insists on assessing my parents’ income, leaving me with just a pound;1,830 student loan to live on after paying the maximum tuition fees.
The Government needs to drag itself into the 21st century and realise that many people who are unmarried and under 25 actually support themselves. No wonder there is a shortage of teachers.
