The range of subject options for secondary pupils in England is set to be cut dramatically as schools struggle to cope with imminent budget cuts. The Association of School and College Leaders says cutting expensive optional subjects will have to be considered by heads. The National Union of Teachers fears the result will be that pupils and teachers will move to private schools, which can afford to offer subjects no longer available in state schools.
