Art and soul

Cross-curricular

P4 pupils at Glasgow’s Our Lady of the Annunciation Primary have been inspired by St Mungo’s Museum of Religious Life and Art. Its Zen garden led them to study different types of rock and research the structure of the earth, and they worked with artist Theresa Malaney on block and screen printing. The results are on display at the museum.

History

New Cumnock Primary’s P5s have been learning about local hero James Keir Hardie’s influence as a politician and advocate of women’s and miners’ rights. At a recent visit to the Baird Institute, they took part in an East Ayrshire Youth Theatre drama workshop on Hardie’s life and were taught to weave with weaving sticks and wool.
