Modern Languages

Curriculum for Excellence has been used to justify cutting the number of languages offered by schools, argues a booklet from the German Consulate General. It identifies a “disconnection” between Scottish education and the needs of the economy, and emerged from a “Think German” conference in November.

Publisher award

General

Bright Red Publishing, which holds the Scottish Qualifications Authority contract to publish past exam papers, is Education Publisher of the Year for the second time. It was shortlisted for Newcomer of the Year and overall UK Independent Publisher of the Year. Judges at the Independent Publishing Awards were impressed by the company’s growth.
