- Bell’s Brae Primary in Shetland has launched a new DVD at Mareel, Scotland’s most northerly arts centre. Filmed over a year by Lewie Peterson and Brian Spence from children’s services, it shows strategies such as cooperative learning and formative assessment, key parts of the school’s practice in Curriculum for Excellence.

Primary awards

Science

- Thirteen Aberdeen schools have achieved a Primary Science Quality Mark. Riverbank Primary gained gold for involving the local community; Middleton Park, Manor Park, Kittybrewster, Danestone and Charleston gained silver; and Bramble Brae, Cults, Dyce, Fernielea, Hazlehead, St Peter’s and Tullos schools gained bronze.
