- Perth will host an event on protecting young people online. Getting It Right ... Keeping Them Safe will be at the Perth Playhouse cinema on 7 March. Presentations will cover grooming, cyberbullying, and preparing children to stay safe online. The event is open to anyone who works with young people, as well as parents and carers. TRANSITION
- A “Getting to Know You” day with a Chinese new year theme was organised for about 200 prospective Grange Academy pupils in East Ayrshire. P7s from Annanhill, Bellfield, Crosshouse, Gargieston, Shortlees and Park primaries formed groups to make Chinese dragons, and built a great wall of China. Each child wrote a word on a brick to describe how they felt about moving to the academy.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY
- A Peebles High project has been lauded by Education Scotland for engaging parents in the school community. PHS200 is a support community run by parents, offering “skills, knowledge and labour to complete tasks that would otherwise require input from scarce school resources”. They have created an electronic database for staff and parents.
Hub opened
CHINESE
- The first dedicated Confucius Hub to promote Mandarin and Chinese studies across Edinburgh has been launched at Leith Academy. Chinese consul general Li Ruiyou attended the opening ceremony. Leith Academy has strong links with China, and some pupils got through to the UK finals of the HSBC Mandarin speaking competition.
