Outdoor learning
A new scheme will send young people on week-long sailing adventures. The Ocean Youth Trust Scotland charity is organising the trips, while Edinburgh Airport has donated pound;5,000 towards the berth fees. Application forms from office@oyt scotland.org.uk

The National Theatre of Scotland wants ideas for five-minute pieces of theatre to fill a 24-hour live broadcast on 21 June, celebrating its fifth anniversary. All schools and ages can take part, with ideas based on what “theatre” means to them. The closing date is 25 March. fiveminute theatre.com

Lecturers at Kilmarnock College have played an integral role in a European project to raise awareness of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurial Competences of Teachers involves colleges from several countries in promoting entrepreneurship. Its four modules are: social and communication; management; marketing; and creativity.
Great debate

Debaters from Robert Gordon’s College, Aberdeen, won three awards in the North of Scotland Schools’ Debating Competition, held at St Margaret’s School for Girls on 4 March. Deputy head Mike Elder said: “We have an outstanding group of debaters at junior and senior level.”

Sanderson High in St Leonards, East Kilbride, opened its new outdoor classroom at the National Museum of Rural Life on 7 March. Head John McEnaney called the garden, where pupils grow fruit and vegetables, a “brilliant resource”.
