Magic Monday
Curriculum for Excellence
St Angela’s Primary, Glasgow, has launched a “Monday Masterclass”. Pupils from nursery to P7 now have the chance to work with others from their CfE level and choose from a range of 26 classes including cookery, art and first aid. They are delivered by business and community volunteers, secondary pupils, parents and teachers.

The Reading Bus initiative in Aberdeen has launched its fifth book - Apardion, A Leopard’s Quest by Sheena Blackhall. It tells the tale of a spirit from the Northern Lights who visits Aberdeen to discover if the city might be his birthplace. He goes to 14 heritage landmarks on his travels. The books aims to be a springboard to engage more than 3,000 pupils in reading and in their local area.

BSL
The Scottish Storytelling Centre held an event last week to celebrate British Sign Language (BSL). It marked the beginning of plans for future storytelling and BSL collaborations through schools, prison and public performances. The centre is working in partnership with BSL:UPTAKE, part of the department of languages and intercultural studies at Heriot-Watt University.

Gaelic
Highland Council is being given an additional pound;5,000 from the Scottish Government’s Gaelic Schools Capital Fund. The funding will go towards additional ICT provision, helping classes make the best use of online resources, such as those produced by Storlann who produce Gaelic teaching resources on behalf of the Scottish Government.
Treasured Bible

A first edition of the King James Bible, printed in 1611, is the highlight of the National Library of Scotland’s “Treasures” display. The Bible in English: John Wyclif to King James VI charts the rocky road that led to this famous translation. The display is on from 2 November to 8 January 2012.
