Anderston Primary, Glasgow, has marked Money Week with activities and visits from the Glasgow Credit Union and Greater Easterhouse Money Advice Project. The school invited a volunteer from the Financial Education Partnership to hold a workshop for P7s about starting a business.

Digimap for Schools has launched a free mystery map challenge, allowing pupils to identify hidden locations using key geographic information. The online application, developed by EDINA, gives schools access to Ordnance Survey mapping. www.youtube.comwatch?v=M7BowYvCUB0

Music

The St Abb’s Head music project, a Youth Music Initiative, reached its climax last week. Over five months, pupils and residents worked with composer Howard Moody and Scottish Chamber Orchestra musicians to write music inspired by the land and seascape around St Abb’s Head in the Borders.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency has embarked on a school play tour to raise awareness of flooding. The half-hour production, High amp; Dry II: This time it’s personal, has been specially written to reflect the key messages of Sepa’s Floodline campaign, to raise awareness among local pupils of how and why flooding occurs, how it can affect a community, and how to prepare in the event of a flood.
