Survivor visit

Pupils from Elgin’s Seafield Primary travelled to London this week to meet two 12-year-old survivors of the tsunami that devastated parts of Japan last year. The Moray school’s pupils were invited after writing letters of support to Orikasa Primary in the Iwate prefecture. To thank the British public for its support, a tree-planting ceremony took place.

The right track

Music

St Anne’s Primary choir, recent recipients of the Ian Barrie Certificate at the Glasgow Music Festival for the second year running, have recorded a track at their local recording studio. The choir at the Glasgow school comprises 40 children aged 8-12. Working with a songwriter, they penned, “What’s the Point?”, which tackles gangs, sectarianism and territorialism.
