Four secondary and 79 primary schools are among England’s most improved schools, despite at least half their pupils being eligible for free school meals.

Schools minister Estelle Morris highlighted the success of these less privileged schools in answer to a question from Labour MP Charlotte Atkins. The schools wre all among the “most improved schools”, based on results in 2000 compared with the previous three years.

The four secondaries are: Oaklands School, London; Sir John Cass Foundation and Redcoat CE, London; Selly Park technology college for girls, West Midlands; and Aston Manor school, West Midlands.
