I must point out, however, that the play work presented in this school and later carried on by the ongoing and essential commitment of the teachers was devised and initiated by Fair Play Training which is a fully autonomous charity based on Dundee University’s Gardyne campus.

One of our training officers, Wilson Macduff, has been working in this school for many years. Our training agency then successfully applied to the Peace and Justice Education Centre in 2001 for funding for a proposal on overcoming violence.

Wilson Macduff started the play council, undertook the conflict resolution training, taught playground games, invented the “play pals” scheme and introduced the peacemaking skills. He has continued to offer essential support in Mossgiel after the end of funding.
