Parents in Suffolk are being given the chance to find out what their children are having for school lunch via Twitter. The Twittersphere is now alive with news of Monday’s beef cobbler, Tuesday’s jam roly-poly and Wednesday’s sausage surprise.

The project was launched this autumn, and it is hoped it will encourage computer-savvy parents to take an interest in school lunches.

Chris Denny, from Suffolk County Catering, said: “We’ve found that many parents and carers like to know what’s going to be on the menu.

“This new service will allow parents to be better informed as to what’s being offered each day, helping them determine what to prepare in the evening or whether or not to have a school meal the following day.”

The service comes in the wake of a new range of lunches for primary, middle, and secondary schools.

Parents and guardians must register for a free Twitter account in order to receive the updates.

Once registered, they will need to become “followers” of Suffolk County Council via www.twitter.comsuffolkcc. ib.
