Glasgow Museums education department launched a series of suffragette sessions for secondary schools this week. The free 90-minute workshops, aimed at S3-4s who have knowledge of the subject, are being held in the People’s Palace in Glasgow Green. The museum has a permanent collection of suffragette material -Glasgow Green was the scene of many demonstrations during the height of the militant movement between 1912 and 1914. The sessions will be led by learning assistants and an actress playing the part of a suffragette. Using museum objects, pupils will discover the reasons behind the rise of the movement and learn about key figures and events in Glasgow. It will culminate in a mock suffragette rally.
