UNITED STATES: Up to 90 lstudents in Buffalo, New York state, are expected to be paid $5 (pound;3.50) an hour for attending summer school. Some students in Philadelphia were paid for attending accelerated classes at local colleges and universities last summer, but the Buffalo programme is believed to be the first time American students have been paid to go to conventional summer school.
