Primary children feel lost, confused and alienated in large primary schools, campaigners have warned. Mary Tasker, chair of the charity Human Scale Education, has written to Beverley Hughes, the children’s minister, expressing “deep concern” about the increase in the size of primaries. Figures from the Department for Children, Schools and Families show the number of primaries with more than 300 pupils has doubled from 2,030 to 4,341 in 20 years.
