EXAMPLES of how children in care can be given extra support are contained in a guide from the Government’s social exclusion unit. Specific measures such as designated teachers are shown to be most effective. By 2006 the Government expects 90 per cent of 15-year-olds in care to have at least one GCSE, compared to this year’s target of 75 per cent.
