MINISTERS have named 21 Sure Start projects aimed at tackling poverty in the early years. Parents will be offered help and advice with early-years education and healthcare. The successful schemes include free books and toy bags for children, reading schemes for fathers, story-telling classes, family cookery lessons and help for parents with drug or alcohol addiction.
Ministers have set aside pound;80 million for the programme over the next two years, and will approve more projects in the summer.
